I am a teacher and tango content creator based in Los Angeles. I publish a weekly podcast called The Tango Banter and organize Chicas del Tango monthly práctica for women who are learning to lead. I have been dancing since 2009. Before losing my marbles to tango, I was a prominent yoga and meditation teacher, focusing on therapeutic applications of movement and mindset. My interest in body mechanics, led me to study tango alongside other dance and movement forms including fusion, contact improv, blues, gyrotonics, Franklin Method, and others. I believe that fundamental physical principles underlie all forms of dance. And to understand these principles allows one to dance anything. Recently my focus shifted to teaching women the leading role (because of the shortage of leaders in the community). I believe equipping women with the skills to dance both roles empowers them to be in charge of their dance experience and really get what they want out of tango. At the core of my teaching approach are 3 foundational tenets required for becoming a successful and satisfied social dancer: movement, musicality, and mindset. In my teaching I incorporate all three so that you can integrate the information and be able to apply it on the dance floor as soon as possible.
